Last Fall my children started attending Riverhouse Children's Center. It started as me getting part time childcare so that I could have some time to focus on work. A few months later I was asked to join the board of directors and to help with their fundraising efforts. I couldn't say no!
Riverhouse is a non profit early education center that provides care to over 70 families in Durango. The center is housed in a quaint building along the river that used to be a bed and breakfast. After spending any length of time at the school, it is impossible not to fall in love with the children, the teachers and staff and really the entire center. I have fallen head over heals for this school and am so glad that this is the place that I chose to bring my children both for their sake and mine.
Starting on the board was an eye opener for me as a designer with a business background. The school had done little branding and market awareness and didn't even have a logo. I have been able to work with the board and design a comprehensive design for all of their needs. Below are the designs for their logo, business cards, brochures, and posters for a couple of their fundraising events.
Perhaps you might be willing to help out? Riverhouse Children's Center will have to raise a tremendous amount of funds in 2011 just to make ends meet and keep their doors open. It is a huge undertaking and every little bit helps. Please visit: www.riverhousecci.org to learn more about the school and how you can help. Please consider making a donation to this tremendous place!
Also a huge thanks to Josh at FlowTheory (www.flowtheory.net) for creating our website for us! We love it!
